Trail Blazer & Bridge: John Sanders

John Sanders (1845-1902) rose from a childhood at Fort Mattagami and Moose Factory, mastering Ojibwe, Cree and English, to become one of Canada’s earliest Indigenous Anglican priests. Through his translations, community leadership and tireless ministry across Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, his story remains a powerful example of faith, resilience and cultural bridging.

Brunswick House First Nation’s After School Program starts November 6th at the Joseph H. Saunders Community Centre. Running Monday–Thursday, the program offers tutoring, cultural activities, recreation, and evening meals. Contact [email protected] for details.

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Early Learning Coordinator is responsible for developing to help strengthen early learning and childcare programs for Indigenous families and children between the ages of 0-6. The Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework (IELCC) was developed in partnership with Assembly of First Nations, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the Metis National Council and the Government of Canada.
