Early Learning Coordinator

Full-Time

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Early Learning Coordinator is responsible for developing to help strengthen early learning and childcare programs for Indigenous families and children between the ages of 0-6. The Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework (IELCC) was developed in partnership with Assembly of First Nations, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the Metis National Council and the Government of Canada.

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and facilitate culturally appropriate programs within the community, supporting needs based on IELCC framework
    • Develop and facilitate programs during the evenings and weekends when needed
    • Promote the development and wellbeing of children through a wholistic, accessible, inclusive and culturally appropriate way
    • Advocating for families and children 0 to 6
    • Implement and maintain ongoing regular training in the early years, and raise awareness of the importance of the early years and healthy child development.
    • Provide regular information sharing and updates to early years community-based workers, Chief and Council
    • Develop and seek out program resources and distribute to communities, i.e. program manual/reporting guidelines/sharing best practices/access to resources

Qualifications

    • Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or related Social Sciences or Human Services degree or equivalent;
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the opportunities, barriers and challenges that impact children’s outcomes; and
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
