Trail Blazer & Bridge: John Sanders

Trail Blazer & Bridge: John Sanders

John Sanders (1845-1902) rose from a childhood at Fort Mattagami and Moose Factory, mastering Ojibwe, Cree and English, to become one of Canada’s earliest Indigenous Anglican priests. Through his translations, community leadership and tireless ministry across Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, his story remains a powerful example of faith, resilience and cultural bridging.
