Amberly Quakegesic

Amberly Quakegesic is honoured and proud to serve Brunswick House First Nation as a Councillor. She grew up in the town of Chapleau and now lives in the community with her sister.

Amberly brings over a decade of experience in land stewardship, education, and community programs. She worked many summers with the Ministry of Natural Resources before leading the Wahkohtowin Guardian program for five years, focusing on land protection, cultural revitalization, and youth empowerment. She has also worked at the local school as a student support worker and supply teacher. Amberly holds a Bachelor of Education, a degree in Law and Justice, and a diploma in Social Work.

Beyond her professional work, Amberly is passionate about sports and community life. She has organized local hockey and basketball leagues, coached youth teams, and serves on the council of Gaagigee Zaagibigaa, a food sovereignty initiative dedicated to ensuring access to traditional foods. She is also apprenticing under a birch bark canoe builder to help keep cultural teachings alive for the next generation.

As Councillor, Amberly is committed to listening with respect, working with honesty and integrity, and creating opportunities that strengthen families, protect the land, and support the well-being of Brunswick House First Nation.
