Medical Transportation Driver

Brunswick House First Nation is accepting applications for the position of Medical Transportation Driver.

The Medical Transportation Driver is responsible for providing transportation services to and from medical appointments for clients and their approved medical escorts. As appointment times may vary, the successful candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, split shifts, and statutory holidays, based on client needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Maintaining contact with Health Services regarding scheduling, changes, and other communication needs.
    • Contacting clients by work cell phone to arrange mutually agreed upon pick-up times and locations.
    • Completing and submitting required reports, including weekly appointment confirmation logs and incident reports.
    • Completing and documenting vehicle circle checks at the start and end of each shift.
    • Ensuring safety kits are stocked and on board the medical transportation vehicle.
    • Scheduling and attending regular vehicle maintenance and servicing, including tire changes, oil changes, and cleaning as required.
    • Completing and submitting administrative reports, such as leave forms, in a timely manner.

Qualifications

    • A minimum of three years with a full Ontario Class G Driver’s License.
    • A recent clean Ontario Driver’s Abstract, issued within the last three months.
    • A recent clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, issued within the last three months.
    • Current First Aid and CPR with AED, or willingness to obtain upon employment.
    • Minimum age of 25 for insurance liability.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Knowledge of First Nation wellness and priorities.
    • Knowledge of applicable motor vehicle regulations.
    • Excellent and safe driving skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to use mobile devices.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work in a manner respectful of First Nations culture, values, and beliefs.
    • Ability to protect personal health information and maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to act professionally and work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work flexible hours.
