Housing Manager

Interim

The Interim Housing Manager is responsible for the planning, administration, and maintenance of Brunswick House First Nation’s housing program. This position oversees housing policy development, construction and maintenance activities, tenant relations, and financial management to ensure housing services meet community needs and regulatory standards.

The Interim Housing Manager reports to the Economic Development Officer and works closely with Chief and Council on housing-related matters.

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Develop, update, and enforce the community’s Housing Policy

    • Ensure compliance with the National Building Code, health and safety standards, and local bylaws

    • Coordinate with Chief and Council on housing policy matters

    • Manage housing applications, waitlists, and tenant selection

    • Oversee construction, renovation, and maintenance of housing units

    • Maintain accurate records of housing inventory, repairs, and tenant files

    • Administer rental agreements for band-owned housing

    • Prepare and manage annual housing budgets and financial forecasts

    • Identify and apply for federal, provincial, and Indigenous housing funding

    • Monitor expenditures and provide financial reports to leadership and funders

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for housing-related inquiries

    • Organize and attend community meetings to discuss housing issues and gather feedback

    • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

    • Diploma or degree in Housing Management, Business Administration, or a related field

    • 3–5 years of experience in housing or property management (First Nation experience preferred)

    • Knowledge of Indigenous housing issues, funding programs, and regulatory requirements

    • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and housing management software
