Economic Development Specialist Intern
Contract: 1-Year (52-weeks)
The Economic Development Specialist Intern will support the Economic Development Department in initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth, attracting investment, and supporting local businesses. This internship offers hands-on experience in research, data analysis, community engagement, and policy development.
Duties & Responsibilities

- Conduct research on economic trends, industry clusters, and demographics data to support strategic planning
- Assist in the development and implementation of business attraction and retention strategies
- Support outreach efforts to local businesses, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders
- Prepare reports, presentations, and marketing materials for internal and external use
- Analyze economic data and prepare summaries to inform policy recommendations
- Assist with grant writing and funding applications for economic development projects
- Participate in meetings with public officials, business leaders, and community organizations
Qualifications

- Currently must be a new entrant into the workface, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field
- Must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate
- Candidate must be 18 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in Canada
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in economic development, public service, and community impact
- Ability to attain and maintain a cleared Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) check including the Vulnerable Sector (VS) check.
