CORDA Now Accepting Applications
Canada Ontario Resource Development Agreement (CORDA)
Up to $35,000 in funding
The Canada Ontario Resource Development Agreement (CORDA) Office is now accepting applications for 2027–2028 funding.
CORDA provides financial assistance for eligible natural resource development, management, harvesting and conservation projects undertaken by First Nations, First Nation members and organizations, and Territorial Organizations in Ontario.
Applicants may request up to $35,000 per approved project.
Funding Availability
Funding for 2027–2028 and beyond is subject to confirmation and availability. Applications will be received and reviewed in anticipation of funding becoming available. Final project approvals will depend upon confirmation of funding.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include:
- First Nations in Ontario
- First Nation members who reside in Ontario
- First Nation organizations
- Territorial Organizations in Ontario
Applicants applying on behalf of a business will be asked to confirm whether the business is 100% owned and operated by Status individuals, First Nations or First Nation organizations.
Eligible Project Categories
Projects must promote renewable natural resource development, management, harvesting or conservation in Ontario. Eligible projects generally fall within one of the following categories:
Natural Resource-Based Economic Projects
Projects that build capacity, resilience and economic opportunities, including:
- Commercial fishing
- Fur trapping and trapline management
- Forestry, harvesting, maintenance and renewal
- Sports fishing and hunting enterprises
- Ecotourism, guiding, hunting camps and trails
- Processing and marketing natural-resource products
Traditional Natural Resource-Based Projects
Projects that build cultural capacity, knowledge and skills, including:
- Wild rice, blueberries, medicinal plants and other non-timber forest products
- Hide harvesting and utilization
- Fishing and hunting for domestic use
- Traditional learning and knowledge transfer
Natural Resource Stewardship and Planning Projects
Projects that build capacity, support sustainability and address threats, including:
- Renewable natural-resource stewardship projects
- Natural heritage and resource planning
- Invasive species initiatives
- Environmental projects connected to renewable natural resources
Application Documents
Required Supporting Documents
Applications must be complete, signed and accompanied by all required supporting documents. These include:
- Supplier quotes for all proposed expenditures
- A letter of community support from the Chief or a member of Council, or a First Nation Council Resolution
- A clear map identifying the location of the proposed project activities
When a First Nation is the applicant, a First Nation Council Resolution is required. Applicants may not sign their own support letter.
Incomplete, unsigned or late applications will not be considered. Submission of an application does not guarantee approval for funding.

Application Deadline
Complete application packages must be received by the CORDA Office no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Applicants are encouraged to begin early to allow sufficient time to complete the form and obtain supplier quotes, community support and other required documents.
