Land Advisory Committee (LAC)
Are you interested in what has been going on with our Land Code and want to get more involved with caring for our land? If you are familiar with or interested in learning more about the development and processes of the Laws which help govern BHFN Lands.

Overview
The Committee was established to promote and support the development processes for our Land Laws by recommending resolutions, policies, and practices to respect BHFN Lands. LAC Members will participate in community consultation meetings, assist in oversight and preparation of Land Laws, and be available to answer questions BHFN members may have regarding the laws. The committee shall develop policies to govern the LAC and set out roles and responsibilities for each member’s involvement such as conditions of services, selection processes, and other matters related to the operation of the LAC.
Members are anticipated to attend monthly meetings in person or as required for law development or other land projects. Honorariums will be provided for active and effective participation per meeting. NO TRAVEL WILL PROVIDED. Must be 18 years of age.
Selection Process
The selection process will be based on community representation and no more than 1 person per family group and are seeking diversity in gender and age. No members who sit on Chief and Council or work in the Lands and Resource Department are eligible to apply. Current LAC Members are welcomed to reapply as along as they haven’t served more then 3 terms (6 years).
BHFN MEMBERS WISHING TO APPLY/REAPPLY ARE ASKED TO PROVIDE A LETTER OF INTEREST THAT OUTLINES WHY THEY ARE INTERESTED, AND ANY KNOWLEDGE OF OUR LANDS, SUCH AS LAND CODE, CURRENT LAWS, OR HISTORY. BE SURE TO INCLUDE ANY OTHER TOOLS OR SKILLS THAT WILL BE BENEFICIAL TO THE LANDS ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
