The Family Advocacy Department manages the Band Representative Program and Jordan’s Principle Program to support Brunswick House First Nation families with children under 18.

Band Representative Program

This program focuses on:

    • Advocacy and support for families involved with the child welfare system.
    • Prevention efforts to mitigate risks, helping families avoid child welfare involvement or work towards closing existing protection files.

Services Offered:

    • Advocacy support in child welfare matters
    • Parenting classes
    • Mental health and addiction support
    • Land-based healing and traditional gatherings

The Jordan’s Principle Program ensures Brunswick House First Nation children, whether members or eligible for membership, receive essential products, services, and support when needed.

Cultural Programs and Activities

    • Weekly cultural activities (crafts, land-based learning)
    • Annual retreats: Two family retreats and a youth retreat each year

Program Growth and Expansion

Both the Band Representative and Jordan’s Principle Programs continue to grow, increasing the range of services available to families and the community.
